Why Totally Tubeless?
Cell culture has remained the gold standard for virology testing, but has evolved significantly over the years. Traditional cultures were performed in test tubes, and viral diagnosis was based on CPE readings. With this method, it could take 5 days or longer for the infection to express in culture, leaving doctors to prescribe treatments based on symptoms alone. Through the use of “totally tubeless” cell cultures, incubation time is reduced to 24-72 hours for many viruses. This falls within the recommended window for antiviral treatment, improving patient care and reducing antibiotic use.
Recognizing CPE requires experienced laboratory staff, and its interpretation can be subjective at times. Less experienced staff members may be unable to perform these readings, increasing time to results and interrupting workflow. With the use of fluorescent staining kits, entry-level technicians can perform blind culture staining and read results under a fluorescence microscope. Results of these FA assays are much easier to interpret, as they are based on fluorescence alone. When shell vials or well plates are used, staining can be performed right in the vial or plate well, further reducing time to results.

Increased Staff Utilization
All of Diagnostic HYBRIDS’ MixedCells systems are based on the same basic work flow, making it easy to cross-train laboratory staff to perform multiple tests. Diagnostic HYBRIDS also offers complimentary in-house training to all customers, with a special focus on improving work flow and optimizing staff utilization through the use of “totally tubeless” testing systems.

Increased Sensitivity
Diagnostic HYBRIDS’ unique combination of MixedCells and D3 monoclonal antibody kits is more sensitive than traditional CPE reading and does not require the high level of experience necessary for CPE recognition. With our patented FITC and R-PE stains, virus infections are indicated by bright green or yellow fluorescence that can easily be visualized under a fluorescent microscope.

Saves Money
MixedCells contain multiple cell lines in the same shell vial or plate well, allowing for the cultivation of different viruses on the same cell substrate. This reduces the need for keeping several different cell lines on hand, saving storage space and avoiding costly waste when cells expire before they are used. In addition, MixedCells are available as Diagnostic HYBRIDS’ patented ReadyCells®, which can be kept frozen at -70°C for up to five months and thawed as needed for intermittent requests.

Exceptional Quality Control and Customer Service
Diagnostic HYBRIDS is committed to providing quality products and exceptional service to customers, with industry-leading quality control, regulatory, and technical and customer service departments. The quality control department – the largest department within the company – tests cells and stains together for maximum control over product performance, and technical support staff is available for assistance with company products. Diagnostic HYBRIDS is certified to ISO 13485 standards, a testament to the quality and care that go into manufacturing and servicing all product lines.
